Community Based Inventorying of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Tharparkar is the first component of ICH Inventorying in Sindh, conducted by Heritage Cell, Department of Architecture and Planning, NEDUET (HC-DAPNED) in partnership with the project consultant Ms. Meeza Ubaid.
The duration of this work spanned over six months (July-December 2022); including fieldwork in Thar. To identify and locate resource personnel and to assess feasibility of conducting Community-Based Inventorying, a reconnaissance visit was made in the month of July in Mithi, Islamkot, Nagarparkar and their outskirts. Following the visit, a work plan was devised for the fieldwork. Two field visits for conducting Community Based Inventorying (CBI) in the region were undertaken by HC-DAPNED team (first visit from 9-15 September 2022 and second visit from 9-13 December 2022). During the first visit, capacity building workshops were conducted in collaboration with project consultant, for the communities in Mithi and Nagarparkar, to orient them on the objectives and process of conducting the CBIs.
